Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys Passes Away at age 47Today the world mourns the death of Adam Yauch, best known as rapper MCA, one-third to the hip-hop trio, the Beastie Boys.
Yauch, who had been battling cancer for the last three years, turned his attention to Buddhism and Tibetan independence toward the end of his life. The LA Times reports that while he and his fellow Beastie Boys compatriots, Mike Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) continued to transform the rap stratosphere through their past work in Paul’s Boutique, Check Your Head, and Ill Communication, Yauch kept the group in check with his rhymes about peace, love, and enlightenment.
Last month, the Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. MCA was not in attendance.
HBO will televise the Beastie Boys’ induction to the Hall of Fame Saturday, reports TheCelebrityCafe.com.
Yauch died at 47.
