New Spice Girls-MusicalRolling Stone reports that The Spice Girls reunited today briefly to announce Viva Forever!, a musical based on the group’s hits. The production was conceived by Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer and written by comedian Jennifer Saunders. It is reported that Viva Forever! will pivot off the premise of the “bitter reality of fame” in a TV talent show.
Back in January it was rumored that the Spice Girls will be reuniting for Queen Elizabeth’s upcoming Diamond Jubilee concert. The event marks the 60 years of the Queen’s reign. Although the Spice Girls failed to reunite in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert, the Spice Girls’ last reunion late in 2007 for a world tour was curtailed in February 2008, even though the tour was met with enthused fervor from fans.
Viva Forever! will open at London’s Piccadilly Theatre on December 11th. Previews will start on November 27th.
