Yoko Ono, Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of the Formerly Sonic Youth Collaborate on Charity SingleYoko Ono might be famous for allegedly breaking up the Beatles, but news has it that she might be also the reason why there still might be hope in regards to the future of Sonic Youth. Core-members to the former band, Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, who shook the world when they separated after 27 years of marriage (nearly as long as when the band got together) in 2011, was reason enough for why Sonic Youth disbanded.
According to Prefix magazine, Moore and Gordon have collaborated with Ono for a charity single, a 14-minute piece currently available for digital download.
All proceeds for the song, titled Early in the Morning, will go toward Ashinaga’s “Rainbow House” project, a charity that aims to set up a safe support center for who lost their parents in Japan during the tsunami.
Prefix predicts that the possibility of Sonic Youth reuniting in the future is low, since the collaboration may have been recorded before the announcement of the Moore/Gordon split.
